Dreamcast Clearout :(

Post by Neohound »

It's well past midnight on a rainy evening in a northern English town. I'm looking out the window, three storeys up, staring at two tea chests standing forlorn beneath a blackened sky. There's a couple arguing outside a bar in the street outside, but I'm not diverted from my gaze. Inside of those two wooden boxes is a part of me, a whole lot of memories and a piece of history. My grief is silent but real, an aching heart. I take a drag on a cigarette and shut the window. As I close the blinds, I whisper to myself "be strong". My girlfriend says "the great thing about the dead, is that they make space!". I try to ignore the flippant quoting, turn to my iPad and realise that, probably, only those DC fans on Dreamcast-talk will understand my loss.

So here I am. It was an argument over space. I lost. Six of my Dreamcast's are gone. The end.

lol whaaaaaat! 6 DCs don't even take up a lot of space!

Did you just get rid of the consoles? Or are you getting rid of games/etc as well? Are you able to sell them? Or are you just putting them out on the curb? We need details! (*and maybe a price list lol)

Here is 90% of my DC collection packed away in boxes: It's just 2 shoeboxes, and a medium sized bankers box. This holds over 50 retail games in jewel cases, 5 controllers and 3 dreamcasts with all cables and such. AND there is room to spare in these boxes if I wanted to put my 4th DC inside, or maybe 10 more games into the shoeboxes. 6 DCs by themselves could probably fit inside the banker's box. Look how little room this takes up!

-although I suppose PAL cases take up 2 - 3x the room of a CD jewelcase... and if you keep the actual cardboard boxes for the consoles/controllers/vmus, that takes up quite a bit more room than this. (I actually did keep some of those boxes, they are just in a closet in my parents' basement, where I put them 10 years ago)

Oh yeah, another question. How many DCs did you own exactly XD
I suppose if you own 10 DCs, getting rid of 6 spare non limited edition DCs isn't so bad. But if you have like 6 or 7 and your girlfriend is making you get rid of your collection because you are too old for games or something, that's quite ridiculous my friend ;)

I would have told the bitch girlfriend to take a hike. Then there would be plenty of space without her shit.

A little presumptuous, don't you think?

Sucks to hear. What's the full story?
