Phantasy Star Online 2 releasing soon... any takers?

ok so you all know me and know I'm a massive fan of PSO on the DC, it was my obsession when it came out and I went on to be bitterly disappointed by all subsequent sequels/rehashes

well PSO2, the correct and PROPER sequel to PSO for Dreamcast is finally coming and apparently its free to play, is anyone out there who plays DC PSO planning on getting this? I'm definitely up for it what with my new PC etc so if anyones interested let me know and maybe we can all play it together some time? when it comes out that is

does this mean it will allow me to play on my pc and android phone? cross platform? or will I have to have 2 seperate characters/accounts?

"Releasing soon"... in Japan. I'm still waiting for them to actually announce an English version of the game. Once they do that then I might be interested. So far they haven't so much as hinted at a release outside of Japan.

they'd be retarded not to though surely? I mean its free to play and its a massive franchise, surely they know the hate they will incur should they snub the rest of the globe?

We'll see. RPGs have historically always been more popular in Japan than anywhere else. I am guessing they will see how well it does in Japan then evaluate if it's worth a release elsewhere.

hmmm... well I hope your wrong, I mean it sounds like they are putting a lot of effort into it for PC and Smart phone. I understand them dropping PSU on the xbox support and so I can see why some people might think that because that game didn't take off they won't bother but if its free to play surely it should be open to anyone and everyone so they get as many micro transactions as possible... does anyone know if it will have stuff like that? I'd honestly rather just pay a yearly subscription than have to buy items and upgrades individually, but thats me

It more along the lines of in that state phantasy star is not that popular. people that have played the games love them, people that havn't tried play COD so much they can't give any other game a chance. its like have you played phantasy star and people are like you mean final fantasy, franchise isnt that known.

yeah I guess I see your point, but seriously how much more would it cost to release a version in English and let the west download it? its not like they are paying to produce bulk copies hoping the stocks will be bought, its just a case of translating the text!! surely there's more to be gained than lost in this situation?

It should be released in North America/EU, would be stupid not to. Japan is just a trial run.

well its just like a lot of other great games that never make it to the states. look at phantasy star portable 2 infinity, all they need to do is translate the game but they desided not to make it due to the PS VITA coming out in about a year (yeah sadly a year) and i think valkyria chronicles 3 came out for psp as well but they also did not translate it probalby for the same reason. 2 great psp games that people would also buy on the vita. but are also unknown. poor sega.
