Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #17 - Soul Calibur
Considering the goals that must be achieved for this particular Competition... wouldn't it make more sense to play the competition in the games dedicated "Time Attack" mode as oppose to "Arcade" mode???

Ummm, there is no "Time Attack" mode as far as I know. Are you sure about that?CD AGES wrote:Considering the goals that must be achieved for this particular Competition... wouldn't it make more sense to play the competition in the games dedicated "Time Attack" mode as oppose to "Arcade" mode???

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #17 - Soul Calibur
Nevermind, there is a Time Attack mode. I've never played it so I didn't even know about it. I had to look up a video of the menu as I'm currently without a copy of Soul Calibur at the moment. I just sold my disc only copy yesterday and I have a complete copy coming in the mail. Anyway, I can't change anything now but maybe for the next competition.
On a side note it is kind of weird that they don't give you any type of score in the Arcade mode. Only the amount of time to complete it.

So... does that mean we still HAVE to play this competition in "Arcade" and not in "Time Attack"???Anyway, I can't change anything now but maybe for the next competition
3D fighters seldom play by score. They usually track progress via a winstreak or time completion.

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #17 - Soul Calibur
well i couldn't wait for a reply from pcwzrd so i went ahead and gave it a shot in Arcade mode. Here's my first result!
(Note: Time Attack mode gives you a dedicated screen of your time results much like one would see after a Survival run. Makes capturing it on camera a whole lot more convenient.

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #17 - Soul Calibur
What's the difference between Arcade and Time Attack? As long as you fight the same amount of enemies then I might change it and still accept your entry.

This entry I just submitted was thru Arcade mode. What's the difference between Arcade and Time Attack? As long as you fight the same amount of enemies then I might change it and still accept your entry.
With respects to Time attack! I take it back. It appears as though diffculty setting will not affect this mode so its useless for this competition that is set to Hard difficulty.

Ah ok. I guess we'll have to use Arcade mode for this comp. then. Maybe we'll do Time Attack next time. As for taking a picture, you can easily get a screenshot if you get the #1 score. See my picture below for an example.CD AGES wrote: With respects to Time attack! I take it back. Note that it does say "Time Attack" even though it is indeed the Arcade mode. Kind of weird.

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #17 - Soul Calibur
I said to myself i was gonna complete this competition today and by golly i did it!!! I would've had an even better time completion if i didn't end up losing a round against Hwang AND Inferno
Oh well...
I wanted to do this comp with Maxi but 3.10 is the best i could do with him. While his "Ring out" potential on par with Mina's he simply does not have a strong Okizeme game against his grounded opponents. Mina however simply excels in this regard like a beast!
