Input Lag on HDTV
I've had the Dreamcast connected to a regular CRT TV for years but when I connect it to my HDTV (Vizio VO42L) it lags badly. I tried buying a VGA cable off ebay and even though it helped a bit the video quality was worse and there was still plenty of lag. It's hard playing golf this way. Are there any settings on my HDTV that'll help or is there a product guaranteed to eliminate all input lag? Thank you.

Re: Input Lag on HDTV
Hate to tell you, but I have heard a lot of complaints regarding Vizio brand and lag. Not sure if this is 100% your case or not though. Do you have a computer you can plug in to it so you can test lag that way. Such as a laptop you can see on the laptop screen what is appearing vs what is on the vizio.
VGA normally works better on lagging tvs, but another option is to look in your tv settings and see if any processing settings can be shut off to ease the tv's workload.

The VGA cable I tried was this on ebay but it still lags. Would a VGA box or another style of cable help me at all? Modern consoles and PCs are lag free on this TV.

Re: Input Lag on HDTV
I've never tried just a VGA cable - I have only tried or heard accounts about the VGA boxes such as the XG or the Hanzo.
Maybe the cable is causing the issue if other VGA equipment doesn't have the same issue.
It seems like your tv would lag using VGA on all EQ and not just the Dreamcast. If I read your original post correctly you wrote that you had the Dreamcast hooked up on your tv using composite originally and it still had lag?

Re: Input Lag on HDTV
If you simply want a no lag gaming experience on ur DC, consider playing on a crt or get a dedicated HD gaming monitor like a benQ.

Re: Input Lag on HDTV
The lag is a problem with your TV and not the cable. My Tomee cable works fine.

All HDTV's have some amount of input lag. Some a barely noticeable, some seem unplayable. Often they will have a GAME mode or some similar settings that will make them a little more tolerable. A CRT often isn't an option, but if it is for you, then that is definitely the way to go with the DC.
