Dreamcast Gamepad, Arcade Wiring Question

Post by fluffymadness »

Hi guys. I recently bought a dreamcast and I'm quite happy with it. Already did the VGA-Mod and the picture is a dream.
Lately I've been thinking about building a cab for my basement and I did some research about the wiring.

My first approach would have been buying an mgcd, but these are quite rare, and I only seem to find the v1 models without a vmu connector.....and not the model b online.

Another thing I was thinking about was buying a jamma fingerboard, and hack some controllers.
I was reading a thread about trigger lag on the original dreamcast controllers, apparently bad for fighting games, and people say a madcatz gamepad would be a good candidate since it has digital triggers....thing is these are kinda rare to find and also expensive :/
Do you know any other 3rd party gamepads besides the madcatz one that have digital triggers?

A nice addition, since mgcd seems to be to hard to find find nowadays, would be to buy a general purpose coinslot timerboard from aliexpress to block the inputs unless some coins are inserted ^^

So any ideas?

You might want to look at getting a Cthulhu Multiconsole pcb. I believe they support Dreamcast as of a couple years or more.
