to get a static IP you have to go into your router and reserve the IP for the Dreamcast. on my router i have an attached devices tab that i can click on. if you have the same thing, you can do it that way too. basically you have to sign onto the net with your Dreamcast, you can use a web browser or a game. then the router will show the Dreamcast in the attached devices area. you may or may not need to copy the MAC for the DC. next you will want to look for the LAN IP setup area of your router. look for IP reservation and add the Dreamcast, you will be able to choose the IP that the DC connects with. your router my not be the same as mine, so this is about the best i can do for instructions

i should also note that the ether net splitter you are using might have it's own MAC and that may interfere with the Dreamcasts MAC. you would be better off plugging the Dreamcast strait into the back of the router. hell by doing that you might solve you problem


so before trying anything else try plugging the Dreamcast strait into the back of the router. see if that works with Quake 3. you should have all the fields blank in the Dreamcast's net settings while trying this
