Close to 200€ , no way..
Sorry I would prefer to buy a fenrir and a clone gdemu for both consoles instead..
If you don’t buy 2 of them who would Open the console disconnect it and plug it on the other console to play..

I can't think of any good reasons why they'd combine the into one device like that.

I can think of bad reasons -- like wanting to warrant a higher price tag and get people to buy two (because, as has already been said -- who's going to want to switch it back and forth). I'd like to think they wouldn't do that for such a silly reason though....

My theory is it was partly to overcome all the expectations that people were assuming they were working on a saturn ode device all this time, only to surprise everyone with a dreamcast ode too. It's easier on them firmware wise I suppose and now plus they don't have to deal with people begging for a dreamcast and saturn ode from them anymore lol.

On the flip side it was certainly used to justify the high price tag for sure. I hope people don't actually hot swap this device as the drive onnector on the dreamcast drive is in no way designed to be used as a cart slot. It will fail and likely damage the MODE unit itself.

Keep in kind fenrir only works on model 1s. I'd recommend a phoebe or rhea if you can manage to get one. I have a phoebe and it's awesome. The only thing I hate is the way you load games on to it is very tedious. But the game compatability is near or at 100%

Gdemu clone is pretty good, though it suffers from same pain in the arse way of loading games on to it. I hear mix reports of d2 disc swapping not working if that matters to you.

I'd say MODEs premium price tag does offer a few advantages, besides universal system compatibility. If it's like Terraonions other products everything is drag and drop and game compatability should be pretty much 100%. The fancy pants interface looks nice too. Also being able to use a sata ssd is pretty remarkable.

I also recommend usbgdrom as its super easy to use and I think has the best disc swap ever (because it uses the lid switch) and works with all dreamcast games minus bleemcast

There are cheaper alternatives, and nobody is forcing that competition out, but like automobiles, there are tiers of products. The only downside is that if you use an SSD or eSATA drive, you'll need to keep the case unscrewed to be able to get to it if you need to transfer files, including for updates.

Well we don't know if there is an ability to use the USB port to transfer files from the device to the other 2 storage mediums. I mean it would be pretty cool if you could do that for the $200 price tag. That might be worth asking them directly. No reason it might not be possible via a firmware update? That would be cool if you could just leave a cable inside it connected you could plus another end into a PC to swap over files. Doubt it may be possible even because they mentioned only 1 port worked at a time so doesn't sound like you will be able to turn on the DC to access the HDD.

I am contemplating purchasing a Terraonion MODE even though they appear to be expensive in comparison to alternative options out there. I have asked a few questions on their support forum, hopefully the reply will be enough to convince me to invest..

Interested in moving it off the SD Cards HHD or SSD are cheaper I guess the only question is comparing it to the GDemu price. But in the long term it may be cheaper compared to buying multiple or a large MicroSD cards.

It's nice for the Dreamcast community to have multiple options to choose from, but seeing the price of this device and the fact you'll have to take into account it will even be more expensive with the import-tax you'll have to pay upon receiving...... you'll be looking at almost €250,-

So that's a hard pass for me.
