I'm sure its been talked about over and over again but I cant find it.
Is there a boot disc that forces non vga games to vga?
I'm talking about backups not original games.
Is DCHakker what I'm looking for?
Thanks friends.
What boot disc forces VGA for backups.

Re: What boot disc forces VGA for backups.
mazonemayu only mentions DC-X and I understand thats for real games not back ups.
In the same thread Gary_b says he used Code Breaker,Game Shark, and DC Hakker.
I read something about like swapping the cables but I cant find it.
I guess if a game can be patched for VGA then a boot disc would do the same thing?

Thanks for the info smith,
I guess Ill have to just re-burn a few games that are not patched.
I found this too,

I'm not scarred of a hex editor but it seems to simplify it.

Re: What boot disc forces VGA for backups.
ah, ok thanks mazonemayu,
Ill give it a try, i just got my VGA cord and noticed a few games don't work with it.
I was just trying to figure out what really forces it. I see if you can patch a game to work, that makes sense, but how does a boot disc force VGA? Does it do the same thing as patching a game?
Id like to know how it works. its a huge mystery to me. why aren't all games VGA already? I thought the hardware put out the VGA signal normally, all I needed was the wire? Hmm..

Not true. DC-X doesn't work with backups, at least not the copy i have. If you want i can upload a video showing it doesn't work.

Wait. Are you talking about "Gameshark CD-X" or the "DC-X Import Game Enabler"? The first one DOES work with backups, the latter doesn't.

Re: What boot disc forces VGA for backups.
Patching a game means that you mark the VGA-Box support flag in the boot sector, so the BIOS launches the game instead of showing the "A/V cable not supported" message. These launchers (Gameshark, etc) probably do a similar thing: they just launch the game without checking the flag. Some games won't output VGA signal after launched, so they won't work with VGA-Box at all. Fortunately they're few, and a lot of games will output VGA after launched, even if it was originally not compatible.
