I went to use my Dreamcast race controller the other day and I found it had developed a fault where the controller was sending a signal of turning right even when the wheel is in its centre position. I was able to see it using the wheel calibration in Sega Rally where it was pulling almost 50% right input. Turning it further right would increase it to 100% and turning the wheel fully left, I could only achieve about 50% left turn input. I unplugged the wheel and restarted the Dreamcast but it still remained.
Does anyone know what the issue is and if it can be fixed?

Re: OEM Race Controller issue
Following a video on YouTube, I've opened up the controller and had a look inside. It was really clean, very little dust and nothing stood out as being at fault. I re-greased the steering column and sprayed some contact cleaner into the potentiometer.
Unfortunately after putting it back together the issue remained, although rather than pulling 50% right it's around 29% now. It's possible something on the PCB or the potentiometer is at fault but I am unable to go any further as I don't have electrical engineering knowledge.

Re: OEM Race Controller issue
I decided to buy a another race controller on eBay. I had seen a few for sale but they were quite grubby or scratched up so I waited until I found one that was in really good condition. I saw one that was listed as opened-never used. The seller said it's been in storage since it was bought.
It arrived yesterday and apart from a slightly gritty and worn box, the controller looked as close to new as you would hope, with the cable tie still tightly secured around the lead. Tested it today and apart from a sticky left paddle, which I was able to fix with a small amount of WD40, it all works fine.
