I found these and was wondering if anyone knew of bootable (Discjuggler-ready) versions of
1. http://www.boob.co.uk/files/dc_breakout.zip
2. http://www.boob.co.uk/files/snake3d.zip
3. http://www.boob.co.uk/files/warlord.zip
I'd like to think I am kind of smart, but have never been able to combine clues and appropriate software in order to take raw and un/scrambled bits and make them into something I can throw into the DC.
Help?
Thanks.

Re: Selfboot Versions Of?
That is awesome! Thanks!
And just to make myself less of a burden, can you post your cookbook for making this stuff happen in 2010? The few docs I could find were old, so the links to apps were broken or the versions of the utils involved had menus that did not match the docs, etc.
Thanks again!

Re: Selfboot Versions Of?
Wow! Did I just read old (but tasty) homebrew? Yeah
Pretty interesting, all of this homebrew is from 2002.
Snake uses KOS (first versions, I think), but dc_breakout uses libdream (pre-KOS times!). More interesting, source is available... why not playing with it?
The author of dc_breakout, David Persik, also has another homebrew with src: DCPaint:
http://www.sega-dc.de/dreamcast/DCPaint
ScDream, to create the CDI just take the bin file, and create a CDI with Bootdreams

He is right, it can also create a dummy file add an ip.bin and scramble an unscrambled binary.Indiket wrote:Wow! Did I just read old (but tasty) homebrew? Yeah

Re: Selfboot Versions Of?
OK, so I grabbed the .zip at http://www.sega-dc.de/dreamcast/DCPaint and see a .bin file in there. Where can I get the latest BootDreams and then how do I use it? If I recall correctly, the version I found from n years ago required me to grab different runtime bits from all over the place and I wasn't able to assemble a working boot-making-thing.ScDream, to create the CDI just take the bin file, and create a CDI with Bootdreams
Also, What is the advantage to having something as .bin these days instead of just having a .cdi/.cdj? I am not trying to be confrontational, just curious about why things are the way they are.
Thanks all!

Re: Selfboot Versions Of?
I think it has something to do with the time these were made, they were not self booting, and I don't think DJ was used so much back then and nobody ever converted them is all. It would be great to have them all on 1 disc though in CDI format.

Re: Selfboot Versions Of?
So, I've been playing with that two homebrews (dcpaint and dc_breakout), and I had success converting into KOS! It was really fun learning a bit about KOS
After 8 years ... they have an update!! Why bothering about that?
- The new binaries are bigger (but now, you can execute it directly using BBA, coder's cable or SD cable). One extra point instead of CDI.
- And I fixed the bugs that the Readme says... gr8!
Btw, both games need to use a Mouse. I tested with the Dreamcast mouse on my console and works ok. Nulldc emulation is not as good as I wanted...
