pso serial # delete?

Post by Macabre »

I'm trying to figure out how to share character save data.
Serial number delete:
This trick is best used when you want piece and quiet. Load the game, then click on "Dressing Room". Press the power button on your Dreamcast. When you turn the Dreamcast on again and load up your character, the game will ask you to re-enter your serial number and access key. This has a few advantages. Anyone with your card will not be able to find you. Your wins and disconnects in battle mode will be gone.
From this site.

As well as;
(Yo)u can resest the memory on the dc, just plug in one controller in the port "(C)b" slot, insert the web browser, then hold x and b on the controller, then turn it on, then wait until the dc is done booting up, then your dc memory should be erased
From this site. (for resetting the dreamcasts internal memory).

I was wanting a way to share characters, and have no idea how that can be done with the serial/code restrictions on everyones systems (if you use a legit disc more often as I do).

I know that somehow, it's been done, but I'm not too sure...

This is so I can share my legit mags & s-rank library I'm building.

I'm not willing to test the first idea with anything but a backup, as that sounds...fishy.

In order to use a save file somewhere else you need:
- A valid SNAK for the game disk you're using (plenty around)
- A valid SNAK for the save file (unique in most cases)

you want someone else to use your save?
Make sure the person is using a game disk from the same area as you (if you use pal, then that person must use a pal disk), then simply load pso and input the same serial you used to unlock the char.
If the person already has a SNAK stored on the dc, then flash the memory so PSO asks it again.

If it doesn't work then 2 things can be the blame:
the SNAK input is not correct (like trying to input a US snak using a PAL disk)
The snak is accepted but the char apears to be unloadable/corrupted, in this case the SNAK tied with the char is different from the one inputed.
