Sega Rally 2 NTSC-U - Is slowdown normal for this game?

Hi there. I recently started playing Sega Rally 2 (NTSC-U) but I've been experiencing some bad slowdown (or framrate drops) in some parts of the stages (Desert SS2 when entering the forest (or dark part) of the stage, or when I play with the rear view camera) so is this a normal problem for Sega Rally 2 on the DC or could there be something wrong with my DC? i dont recall much about this game. it would be more likely that its the game. either the software coding itself or the disc. idk if you burnt it or if its original. my guess is that it is normal, but that is just a guess.
