yeah, only problem is the Dreamshell runs from a cdr anyway, but you can apparently install it to the bios/dos or whatever it is, incidentally does anyone know how you do that? Because I've tried and it doesn't work!!

Yes but if you're using the SD Loader version of Dreamshell it only needs the CD to initially boot, then it runs everything from the card. In order to install Dreamshell to your BIOS, you need a modded Dreamcast.

hang on whats this bit your talking about sd loader version I don't understand that, is there some other way you can run the SD card program without the disc aside from installing it to your bios?? If so I haven't figured out how that works yet

Nope, you still need the disc. I believe you are using the "from SD Loader" version of Dreamshell. The download that includes the folder to copy to your SD card and the boot image for the CD (you mentioned to me in a PM that you downloaded that version). This as opposed to the regular version only needs the disc initially. Once Dreamshell is loaded you can remove the disc. The only way to go completely disc-free is to flash Dreamshell to your BIOS which requires a modded Dreamcast.

ok so hang on, I get what you mean but how do I know when to remove the disc? Is it just literally as soon as you see the main screen that looks like a windows desktop you can take the disc out? That's cool at least, still it seems it won't help much for my emulators as you don't seem to be able to revert back to the Dreamshell dash, rather you have to power off again :(

so if the files are in that folder do I have to do anything with them to install the dreamshell or does it just recognise that the files are there and you can just remove the disc as soon as it loads?

Nope, no installing. Basically the files that are normally on the CD are in the folder on the SD card instead. Thus removing the need for a disc after Dreamshell initially loads.

I don't make them as I don't have an sd adapter any more. I traded mine for a mint 1995 model 1 Saturn and 7 mint games. :)

I can tell you that it is easy to make them though. Mount your iso with Daemon tools, and then copy all files to a folder and use a new program to make the sdiso's.

And yes, they HAVE to be in iso format, cause Dreamshell can only read that format now.

ok so hang on, if I have a CDI that I want to convert to SDISO is that not possible anymore? I had Daemon tools on one of my machines somewhere I'll have to have a look
