How much have you spent on Dreamcast items?

Truth be told, gaming gets expensive no matter how you slice it. I'm thinking of my old PSX which I got for $200 when PSX was the new hot thing - along with the dozens of games I bought for $50 over the 6 years I had it prior to buying a DC... For my financial health, it's a good thing I don't own any of the new consoles lol

all in all we really shouldn't complain, even if you have a current gen console, games are way cheaper now than in the 80's

i think in terms of value for money games are the best form of entertainment. Mass Effect 3 comes out this year and it will cost me £38 and I'm going to hopefully get 60+ hours out of it. But a blu ray costs £17+ and its only a movie? You aren't getting 65+ hours of use out of THAT now are you! I do love the current gen but theres nothing I like more than finding a hidden gem for one of my old consoles and tracking it down, depending on the cost

There was a time I kept maticulous records...

2000 - $ 10.00 (Accurate, I didn't own a DC until 2001.)
2001 - $233.41 (missing data for part of September)
2002 - $252.43 (missing data for half of October)
2003 - $207.08 (horribly incomplete data)
2004 - $270.15 (even more horribly incomplete than 2003's data)
2005 - $263.48 (more horribly incomplete data)
2006 - $ 91.93 (yet more horribly incomplete data)
2007 - no data!
2008 - $ 86.30 (such ridiculously incomplete data I don't know why I bothered)

There is limited data beyond 2009, but to be honest I've been rather lazy with my record keeping for a quite some time now and have even managed to misplace the 2009 through 2011 records.

So, for recorded data: $1,414.78
In all reality though, I'm certain my actual total to date is well over $3,000... not counting money spent on the spin-off PSO collection, which is likely teetering on the $1,000 mark itself.

And just so anyone who is reading through this topic and thinking some of us have turned this into an expensive hobby. Please consider I spent close to $4,000 on automotive repairs last year alone. In that perspective, $3,000 spent over the course of the last decade isn't really all that much money.
