VMU stuck in Pelican Accessories Dream Shock controller

I was testing out my Dream Shock controller and my only VMU has become lodged into the port. I wouldn't mind this, if the right trigger of the controller wasn't broken. How do I get it out?

I never owned one, but most Dreamcast controllers can be disassembled by removing the screws at the bottom of the controller. This should allow you to remove the VMU.
