Infamous Sonic Adventure 2 Last Stage Glitch

Post by PATRiCKCiA:MetalHead »

I heard stuff about a game breaking glitch in the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure 2, a glitch where you fall right through the floor or something, I haven't bought the game yet, but I want to know if theres any specific Dreamcast copies of Sonic Adventure 2 without this infamous game breaking bug.

Whoa. Now, that is a bug! Well, it doesn't say it here, so I think it's just some discs.

From what i've read on the net, it wasn't a glitch it was a copy protection/F*ck you from sega to those who pirated the game. So you could play the whole game fine but the last stage is unable to be completed, if you wanted to finish it you had to go out and buy the game

What's sad is SA2 was cracked and on the internet the day of release

Yeah, it's a copy protection measure. It only happens on uncracked CD-R copies and not on GD-ROMs. It's the same strategy Sonic Team used for the additional copy protection on PSO: rather than refuse to boot the game, thus letting the pirate know that he hasn't disabled all of the copy protections yet, the game boots but then crashes itself at a later time to defeat the pirated copy.

Infamous? In 15 years of playing SA2, this is the first time i hear about this.
Just buy the game, there is no glitch!

I think it's quite funny how developers put in such "piracy protections", however when time passes (as this topic proves) it can leave potential buyers/players wondering if they should buy/play said game because they got misinformed and think there is a glitch/bug/problem with the original copy of the game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that video is wrong. It's well known that Mortal Kombat Gold had tons of glitches in its initial release, so there are actually two different GD-ROMs of the game. The glitchy one has a yellow disc, while the fixed version comes on a red disc. SA2 has only one disc, though, so you'll never have a problem if you buy the GD-ROM.
