only if you hooked the voltage inducer to the wrong wire. The only wire you need to worry about it the red one. I think all of that is covered in that video that posted. I think that he said that the extra wires are for a second line?macaronielevator wrote:A quick thought, the phone cable I used had only a green and red wire whereas other phone cables I have seen in online tutorials have additional black and yellow wires, could this be anything to do with it?

The voltage inducer is connected at each end to the red wire of the cable. Does it matter at which side the resistor is on the circuit?

Here's a picture of how I have mine wired. I've made over 20 of them in this same configuration. The wires on the left should not be touching. You can either put electrical tape in between them or use hot glue to encase them separately (this is what I do because it also adds strength).macaronielevator wrote:The voltage inducer is connected at each end to the red wire of the cable. After applying hot glue:

That's the message you'll usually get if you have no voltage on the line. How do you have your batteries (or AC adapter) connected?macaronielevator wrote:I have just remade two LVI's one with a 330 ohm capacitor and another with 470 ohm capacitor and now instead of line busy it states dial tone not connected, anyone got any advice??

Re: DreamPi connection - line busy??
I have two 9v battery snaps with brand new batteries attached, one attached to the resistor and the other attaching to the capacitor :-///

Re: DreamPi connection - line busy??
Okay had some more progress, I managed to connect with the LVI with the 470 ohm resistor but I've hit a snag. Using the planet web browser it states 'couldn't contact host'. Anyone had this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated

Yeah that is the message that I got yesterday. I was able to get online with PSO even though Pweb said that.macaronielevator wrote:Okay had some more progress, I managed to connect with the LVI with the 470 ohm resistor but I've hit a snag. Re: DreamPi connection - line busy??
So I tried connecting to chu chu rocket servers and it said 'line may be busy'. I've attached an image of the components of my LVI that has the 470 ohm resistor, can anyone see any issue with it?
