My Dreamcast has the "1" next to the region code on the shell, "2" on the board near the bottom on the inside, a plastic fan and the 3.3V on the metal part of the GD-ROM drive.
I'd like to ask if anyone knows what happens if you try to run a GDEMU on incompatible hardware, so I can narrow down if the console is the problem.
I installed the GDEMU and used GDMENU Card Manager to add Ikaruga (converted from .chd to .gdi using chdman).
The system boots to the GDmenu screen and Ikaruga appears as the 02 selection, but when I try to play it, it boots the @Dreamcast screen and then enters the Dreamcast Play/File/Music/Settings screen.
Choosing Play brings up the "Please insert game disc" message.
Is this typical behaviour of hardware that is not compatible with GDEMU, or would incompatibility have prevented the sdcard from booting to the GDmenu at all?
Any help would be appreciated.

try a different rom. You want .gdi or worst case scenario .cdi files. Don't convert from .chd. Try a .gdi from here ---> https://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewto ... 13#p133823

Thank you so much!redjeff76 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:46 pm try a different rom. You want .gdi or worst case scenario .cdi files. Don't convert from .chd. Try a .gdi from here ---> https://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewto ... 13#p133823

I downloaded a .gdi image of Dead or Alive 2 from the page you linked and worked.
I'm going to look into translations, hacks and homebrews now.
