Hello there. I've recently purchased a vga box and cable online to use on my lcd tv. I have a sony Bravia with a vga input. When I run the dreamcast through the box I get vertical lines, almost like jail bars, running down the screen. I've tried plugging my laptop directly into the tv via vga, and I get a perfect image. I'm using a box that kinda looks like it has a big x shape on it, it's silver, incase anyone knows this particular type. I'm thinking of getting a hanzo, but reluctant if this issue is normal for using a vga connection. Anyone have any ideas or information please?
That certainly doesn't seem normal. I've never noticed any sort of "jail bars" with either of the two (non-hanzo) VGA boxes I have.
It could be something odd with your TV or something odd with the VGA box itself. Do you have any other VGA monitors that you could plug into to at least rule out the TV being the issue?
Yup, I saw those "bars" too, but it is more visible in some games and occasions, and not in others. I think that it isn't interference too, just the box (a translucent retrobit, in my case) is too much cheap. I'm not getting a hanzo for a while btw, in my case the effect is too soft.

I see these lines on both my Naki VGA box and my Tomee VGA cable which are hooked up to two different Dreamcasts on two different screens. Like rent-a-hero said though, they're not always extremely noticeable. In fact, on the monitor I use the with the Naki VGA box, it took me years before I even noticed them. I'm certain this is normal and not a defect with the Dreamcast or VGA box.
