dreampi not doing anything

i got everything all set up, and dreampi just doesn't talk to my dreamcast. i tried a few different cables(i made a pluggable voltage inducer). nothing is happening on dreampi. what could be wrong? could it be the usb modem? the activity led isnt flashing but the "on" led is.

Only a handful of USB modems work with DreamPi. So that is most likely it.

If you're using the Dell USB modem and both LEDs don't illuminate, then your modem is probably not compatible. I bought this one and it works great:
