Sonic Adventure - Was the disc written differently?

Post by Leprekaun »

Hi all. I was just doing a test on each of my games with my Dreamcast. Every game loads fine except Sonic Adventure. I am a careful owner of my games so I don't see how it can be scratched or damaged. I've compared the disc to other games which had similar scratch marks which I assume is just from use of the laser lens (I didn't use my nails to scratch any discs :D) but those games work, Sonic Adventure doesn't :?. I am slightly tempted to adjust the lens pot again but with it being a really fidgety job, I'm hesitant. The weird thing though is that although the DC struggles to read the disc, it eventually starts reading it like any game would but I'm still stuck in the DC menu. It's like it timed out before the game was given the ok to load so can that explain anything?

P.S.: I already used a lens cleaner and cleaned the game disc with isopropyl alcohol. Made no difference.

No, it was not written differently. It's just a good batch of SA was pressed on faulty media. It's possible you own one these copies, so quit messing around with your GD drive lens when its not the problem. There is plenty of info out there regarding this (a lot can be found in old threads in this very forum)
